Introduction:
Frederick Douglass was invited to give a speech during the celebration of the fourth of July. Little did anyone know, Douglass was going to use this as an opportunity to talk about how slaves and African Americans were not being treated equally. Narration: Fredrick Douglass talked about how in the Declaration of Independence, it said "all men are created equal." Douglass points out the hypocrisy in this due to the racism that was prevalent during that time. Division: This period in time slavery was still legal. Many people considered African Americans to be not humans. Proof: Many people were treating African Americans as less by enforcing stricter laws on them and beating disobedient slaves. Douglass turns this logic on its head by proposing that because African Americans are upheld by laws just like any other humans, that proves their innocence. Refutation: While Douglass makes good points about how African Americans should be treated equally, there is still issues with racisms to this day. Conclusion: We should take inspiration from Douglass and try to promote human equality.

This is my version of the scene in The Crucible were Abigail explains herself to Parris about the suspicious activities she has been doing lately.
Parris enters the scene to see Abigail shaking Betty: Abigail! What in the Lord's name are you doing? Put Betty down this instant! Abigail (under her breath): Come on Betty snap out of it! There is nothing to be scared of, but if you keep acting like this nothing good will come. Come on come on, hurry up pull yourself together. Parris (grabbing Abigail): Abigail quit it! I already have enough people watching me with suspicion. If you keep this up people are going to assume you bewitched Betty yourself. Hell, even I am worried that you are a witch. Abigail: I have done nothing. Why would you even assume that I am a witch? Parris (angered): You know very well why I would be worried. I saw you dancing in the woods like heathens. And on top of that need, I mention the dress lying on the ground. What in Hell's name are you girls doing? My reputation, my career, my life are at stake to your answer. So be sure to answer honestly lest you want nowhere to live. (Parris uses anaphora),(Parris also uses a threat to get the information he wants). Abigail (scared): What we did was only for sport. There is no reason for you to be angry with me. Parris: No reason! Girl, Betty is suffering from what we can almost only assume is witchcraft and you and whoever participated with you are the only ones who have done anything resembling witchcraft. If, witchcraft were to be discovered at my house, I might as well be hanged so help me God. Tell me who else was with you I need to know everything! Abigail: It was just Tituba, Betty, and I. Tituba sang her Barbados songs and we danced, that is all that happened. Parris: Then what was of the dress on the ground? Abigail (scared): That had nothing to do with us. Perhaps someone's clothes were drying and the wind wind blew them over there. Parris: Well I hope for not just my sake, but for yours and Betty's we can make sense of what is happening, unless you are still hiding something. (Parris talks about how their safety is at stake). Abigail: There is nothing else that we did. Parris: Well let us pray to God that we are safe. 1: The author's main claim is that growth mindset can be used to help students improve: " if you get the grade "Not Yet", you understand that you're on a learning curve. It gives you a path into the future."
